SOU handles last-place Walla Walla

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. Will Graves had 15 points, Atmar Mundu scored 14 and the Southern Oregon men's basketball team kept Walla Walla (Wash.) winless with an 82-68 victory Friday afternoon at Windemuth Court.

While bumping their record to 10-6 overall and 6-4 in the Cascade Conference, the Raiders led for the final 30 minutes and built a 12-point advantage in the first half with a late 13-2 run.

They did it with balance, getting multiple buckets from eight different players. Sophomore forward Khalil Chatman scored nine of his season-high 10 points in the second half. Brett Hollins and Josh Meyer provided nine points and six rebounds apiece, while Tez Allen went for eight and six.

The teams' shooting percentages were nearly identical – SOU's landing at 42 and WWU's at 43 – but the Raiders generated 10 more chances by forcing 19 turnovers and pulling down 18 offensive boards. They outscored the Wolves by 10 at the free-throw line, going 18-of-24.

Graves and Mundu both made two 3-pointers. They've hit multiple in the same game eight times this season and have amassed double-figure points totals in the same game 10 times.

The Wolves dropped to 0-15 and 0-10. They trimmed SOU's lead to 55-46 with nine minutes left before Meyer scored back-to-back buckets to start an 8-0 surge.

SOU plays at 6 p.m. Saturday at Lewis-Clark State (Idaho), which enters its game Friday against Oregon Tech with a 3-6 conference record.
