GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Southern Oregon men's wrestling surrendered fewer points than in any dual this season, blowing out Cascade Conference foe Arizona Christian 35-3 on Friday at the ACU Events Center.
Simon Graeber, SOU's freshman 133-pounder, had the days only win by fall with a first-round pin of James Maheras, following 125-pounder
Mikey Ladkani's 16-1 technical fall over Albert Ambriz.
Rico Robles got the Firestorm on the board in a decision at 141, but the Raiders won the next seven matches. Sixth-ranked
Aaron Gandara improved to 7-0 in dual action with a technical-fall shutout of Syage Ryan at 149, and 11th-ranked
Alex Hernandez added bonus points with a 17-6 major decision against Hunter Richardson.
SOU got its other five wins by decision from
Travis Thorpe (157),
Ayden Wolgamott (165),
Kabb Christensen (184), 24th-ranked
Andrew Herrera (197) and
Antonio Garcia (6-2). Thorpe's was the only win decided by fewer than four points; he eked out a 5-4 win against Carlo Castagrano.
The Raiders improved to 7-2 heading into two more duals Saturday against Vanguard (Calif.) and 15th-ranked Embry-Riddle (Ariz.). Both will be held in Prescott, Ariz., on ERAU's home mat.
The Firestorm fell to 3-8.
