ASHLAND – Southern Oregon erased a 16-point deficit but couldn't get all the way over the hump, falling 60-57 to Oregon Tech in Cascade Conference action Tuesday night at Lithia Motors Pavilion.
After falling behind 46-30 a few minutes into the second half, the Raiders (12-8 overall, 8-6 CCC) rattled off a 15-0 run and eventually tied the game on
Atmar Mundu's 3-pointer with 11:34 to go. They never led, though, and after
Dominic McGarvey's put-back leveled the score at 57-all, Jamison Guerra put the Owls (9-11, 6-8) in front for good by maneuvering into the paint for a bucket with 43 seconds left.
The Raiders had two attempts to take the lead and one to tie on their frantic ensuing possession but missed them all. Keegan Shivers split a pair of free throws to put the Owls up by three with five seconds left, and
Will Graves' contested 3-point look at the buzzer was knocked out of his hands on the way up.
The Owls salvaged a split of the regular-season series after surrendering a second-half lead of 10 points in the previous matchup.
Guerra came through with 15 points and eight assists this time around. Keegan Shivers joined him with 17 points in the backcourt, shooting 4-of-9 from 3 and adding nine rebounds and five assists.
