Meyer's triple-double leads Raiders past Lions

ASHLAND Josh Meyer gave himself a senior night gift to remember in Southern Oregon's 94-67 rout of Multnomah on Saturday at Lithia Motors Pavilion.

With 14 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists, Meyer, a forward from Seattle, became the first Cascade Conference player this season and the first Raider in eight years to record a triple-double. His efforts, along with senior guard Will Graves' second consecutive 20-point outing, pushed SOU to 14-8 overall and 10-6 in the circuit – just one game back of third place and two back of second.

The Raiders got their revenge on the Lions (12-10, 7-9), who'd upset them on Dec. 30 in Portland. MU shot 33 percent from the field, the third-lowest clip for an SOU opponent this season, and has still never won in Ashland.

Meyer accumulated nine points, seven rebounds and seven assists by halftime as the Raiders mounted a 49-37 lead. He was perfect on three field-goal attempts during the frame, and Atmar Mundu shot 5-of-5 with a few 3-pointers to score all 13 of his points before the break.

Meyer got his 10th assist by finding Mason Whittaker for a 3-pointer with 3:50 remaining. A minute later, he hit double-figure points with a put-back.

The last Raider to log a triple-double had been All-American Tim Weber, who delivered four of them to lead all NAIA players in 2014-15.

Meyer has now recorded three double-doubles this season and 21 in 64 career games as a Raider. At 4.0 assists per game, the two-time all-conference performer ranks third among CCC players.

Graves' 20-point effort, achieved on 8-of-15 shooting, was his fifth of the season, each of them occurring at home. He added five rebounds.

Cole McAninch came off the bench to score 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Brett Hollins joined him with nine points and a career-high 11 rebounds. Tez Allen shot 4-of-5 to amass eight points and six boards.

The Raiders hit at 53 percent from the field as a team, their best clip in a month.

Neyland Block flirted with a triple-double for the Lions, going for 19 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.

SOU finished its homestand 3-2 and will be on the road next week, traveling to Northwest (Wash.) on Friday and Evergreen (Wash.) on Saturday.
