LEWISTON, Idaho – For the fourth time in five seasons, the No. 16-ranked Southern Oregon volleyball team reached the 20-win mark Friday with a 25-23, 25-21, 25-18 sweep of Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) at the P1FCU Activity Center.
Hannah Stadstad, the reigning NAIA Attacker of the Week, dominated again with a match-high 14 kills on 24 attacks while
Marin Mackey totaled 11 kills, six digs and three blocks. The hard-hitting duo helped the Raiders attack at a .269 average while improving to 20-5 overall and 13-4 in the Cascade Conference.
They didn't trail in the first or third sets of their fifth consecutive win. They were down 9-1 and 17-11 in the second, however, before ticking off six straight points to even the score – getting two assisted blocks and a kill from
Sadie Byrd during the run. Down 20-19, they went on another 5-0 spurt bookended by Stadstad kills. The junior right-side hitter put down one more to finish the period.
Byrd ended up with six blocks and six kills in the match.
Annie Hite had 22 assists and six digs, and
Trinity Atuatasi led the Raiders in both digs (11) and service aces (3).
Juliauna Forgach Aguilar paced the Warriors (7-15, 6-11) with 13 kills. They dropped all six sets played against SOU this season.
The Raiders remain in third place – three matches back of co-leaders Corban and Eastern Oregon, and one up on College of Idaho and Northwest (Wash.) – entering Saturday's 8 p.m. contest at Walla Walla (Wash.).
