ASHLAND – Oregon Tech ended the Southern Oregon women's soccer team's 11-game home unbeaten streak with an 83rd-minute dagger in a 2-1 Cascade Conference decision Friday night at Raider Stadium.
The Raiders (6-5-4 overall, 3-2-4 CCC) leveled the score dramatically in the 82nd minute, when freshman the ball landed with
Brooklyn Hayes out of a scrum in the box and she headed it into an open net.
Ninety seconds later, Shalynai Naputi struck with the winner. Lined up just outside the right post and about 20 yards deep, she took Kayla Ness's pass from the corner and placed it perfectly into the top corner, over the outstretched arms of keeper
Ashlynn Hernandez and just under the crossbar.
The Owls improved to 5-5-3 and 4-4-2, jumping into a tie for sixth place. The Raiders are hanging on to the eighth and final CCC postseason spot with three games left to play.
Hernandez kept OIT off the board early with four first-half saves. Owls forward Brianna Lewis broke the initial tie in the 41st minute by converting a pinpoint cross from Ashley Hart at the right post.
The Owls' win was their first in Ashland since 2013.
