ASHLAND, Neb. – In a race as close as they'll get to a preview of the national meet, the Southern Oregon University cross country teams left the NAIA Blazing Tiger Classic with a lot to feel good about Saturday at Mahoney State Park.
The 6,000-meter women's race showcased six of the top-eight teams in the NAIA coaches' poll. The No. 7-ranked Raiders were one of them and claimed fifth place of 23 in the standings, putting each of their five scorers among the top-43 of a 288-person field and doing so with a promising 68-second spread.
Mason Weisgerber's eye-opening freshman season hit another high point in the men's 8K. The Wilsonville product placed third of 288 runners with a time of 24 minutes 27.9 seconds, leading the No. 15 Raiders to eighth place in a race that featured eight NAIA Top 25 squads.
All-conference senior

Lauren Forster (22:27.2), 32nd-place
