ASHLAND – The Southern Oregon men's and women's cross country teams have received at-large bids to compete at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships next week in Tallahassee, Fla.
Last week, both teams placed second at the CCC Championships, moving the men to No. 10 and the women to No. 17 in this week's final NAIA Top 25 coaches' poll. The Raider men produced three All-CCC performances in Carter Stedman (4th), Mason Weisgerber (5th), and Josh Hepner (7th), while the Raider women saw two All-CCC performances in Alyssa Johnson (2nd) and Sophia Stubblefield (10th)
At last year's NAIA National Championships, Johnson (32nd) earned All-America honors and led the women to a 16th-place finish. They also return Mercedes Harms and Ashley Jentzsch from last year's squad.
On the men's side, Weisgerber is the lone Raider with championship experience. He qualified individually as a freshman in 2023 and placed 51st at the course in Fort Vancouver Park.
This year's meet, set for Nov. 21 at Apalachee Regional Park, will feature 36 men's and 36 women's squads.
A complete preview will be published next week.
