ASHLAND – Southern Oregon second baseman Deja Acosta has been named the Cascade Conference's Rize Laboratory Softball Player of the Week after leading the No. 5-ranked Raiders to a 3-1 series victory over No. 8 College of Idaho.

The senior from Modesto, Calif., went 9-for-13 and reached base in 12 of 16 plate appearances against the Yotes, scoring nine runs and driving in six. The performance included one of her biggest swings as a Raider – her first home run of the season, a walk-off shot with two outs in the seventh inning of Game 1. She went on to score three runs in Game 2 to help SOU complete the doubleheader sweep.

Acosta has batted 16-for-25 during an active eight-game hitting streak, raising her batting average from .365 to .427 in that time.  Among CCC players, she ranks third in runs scored (39) and stolen bases (21), fifth in hits (47), ninth in on-base percentage (.504) and 10th in RBIs (30).

In 2022, her first season with the Raiders, Acosta led all NAIA players in runs scored with 82, a new SOU record. She was voted an all-conference and all-region performer.

She and the second-place Raiders (27-7 overall, 15-4 CCC) play a four-game series Friday and Saturday at Carroll (Mont.) (14-18, 10-10).
