ASHLAND Cayla Williams and the No. 5-ranked Southern Oregon University softball team have been recognized by the Cascade Conference after the Raiders dominated Carroll (Mont.) over the weekend in Helena.

Williams was voted the CCC's Rize Laboratory Player of the Week and SOU took the CCC Under Armour Team of the Week award after going 4-0 on the series, improving to 31-7 overall and 18-4 in the conference.

At the plate, Williams went 11-for-14 with three home runs, 10 RBIs, nine runs scored and a pair of four-hit games. Over two starts in the circle, the senior from San Jose, Calif., allowed four runs over eight innings and earned a pair of victories, bringing her record to 15-4.

Williams is working on an active eight-game hitting streak, during which she's batted .714 (20-for-28) with six extra-base hits and 17 RBIs. It has raised her batting average from .338 to .444, the fifth-best in the conference. Her average in CCC games is a team-best .559 (33-for-59).

The right-hander's win total as a pitcher is the fourth-highest in the conference, and she's already matched the one she posted last year. In 54 career outings for the Raiders, she's gone 30-8 with a 2.13 ERA.

The Raiders – who have won 11 of their last 12 games – travel to Warner Pacific for a four-game series on Friday and Saturday. They'll return home on April 25 for a doubleheader against top-ranked Oregon Tech.
