Raiders wrap Oak Invitational with sweeps of Pacific Union, Simpson

ATHERTON, Calif. – The No. 20-ranked Southern Oregon volleyball team completed a perfect stay at the Oak Invitational with sweeps of Pacific Union (Calif.) and Simpson (Calif.) on Thursday at Haynes-Prim Pavilion, wrapping up non-conference play with a 7-1 record.

The Raiders got 22 kills from Megan Perry and 20 from Marin Mackey on the day, attacking at a combined average of .370 against the California Pacific Conference opponents. Entering their Cascade Conference openers next week at College of Idaho and No. 3 Eastern Oregon, they've won 22 of 26 sets played.

They topped Pacific Union 25-13, 25-14, 25-14 in a hair over an hour as Mackey led the team with 11 kills, five digs, three blocks and three service aces while Perry punched in 10 kills on 14 attacks. Sadie Byrd had five blocks and needed just five attacks to tally three kills.

The Raiders went 25-19, 25-18, 25-13 against Simpson with a season-best .392 attacking average, amassing 47 kills compared to nine errors. Perry totaled 12 kills, Mackey went for nine and 11 digs, and Byrd had eight with four blocks. Hannah Stadstad added eight kills on a team-best .667 average, and Vitoria Mattos had 19 assists.

Kayla Neidigh was SOU's digs leader with 18 on the day.
