COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Southern Oregon women's soccer team left its trip to Southern California empty-handed, dropping a 2-0 decision to Vanguard (Calif.) on Friday afternoon at VU Soccer Field.
Alyssa Fong scored in the 10th minute and Kennedy Cypher in the 63rd for the Lions (2-0-1 overall), who put only two other shots on goal. Jena Howard and Kaitlyn Currier distributed the assists.
The Raiders (3-2) were limited to six total shots, five of which they accumulated in the second half.

Payton Puppe-Wotipka each put one on target.
After winning three straight games to open the season, SOU was blanked in both outings this week against a pair of top Golden State Athletic Conference squads.
The Raiders play their final non-conference game Sept. 8 at Stanislaus State (Calif.), an NCAA Division II program.
