PORTLAND – Mia Ammons put Southern Oregon ahead in the 14th minute before Warner Pacific fought back to salvage a 1-1 draw in the Cascade Conference opener for both teams Friday at the Eastside Timbers Sports Complex.

Ammons, a sophomore transfer, got her first goal as a Raider courtesy of redshirt-freshman Frida Vargas' first assist. Knights keeper Litzy Gonzalez denied SOU a second score, coming up with eight of her 10 saves in the second half.

Kaitlin Hirasa delivered the equalizer unassisted in the 50th minute.

The point was the first WPU (3-2-1 overall) has taken from the Raiders (3-3-1) since 2014.

Junior keeper Ashlynn Hernandez made three saves for the Raiders, who posted a 15-5 advantage in total shots.

They'll be in action again Saturday, visiting Multnomah at 2:30 p.m.
