LA GRANDE – Top-ranked Eastern Oregon kept its unbeaten season rolling, victimizing No. 19 Southern Oregon 25-19, 25-20, 25-16 in a Cascade Conference match Saturday evening at Quinn Coliseum.
The Mountaineers (9-0 overall, 2-0 CCC) stymied the Raiders (8-2, 1-1) at the net to the tune of a season-low .032 attacking average, an effort spearheaded by Kara Clayton's eight assisted blocks. The win was their fourth against ranked opponents already.
Marin Mackey recorded 11 kills, Hannah Stadstad had eight and Megan Perry had seven for the Raiders, but the trio also combined for 16 errors. Sadie Byrd's five blocks and Kayla Neidigh's 10 digs led them defensively.
Madison Morgan paced EOU with eight kills and Ashton Haughton tallied seven. Adrienne Washington finished with four service aces; SOU didn't have any.
Both of the Raiders' losses have come against teams currently among the top-15 in the NAIA poll.
They'll return home next week to face Walla Walla (Wash.) at 2 p.m. Friday and Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) at 5 p.m. Saturday.
