Raiders on the Road: Sept. 8-11

9/6/2023 1:44:00 PM

RAIDER WOMEN'S SOCCER (3-2-0)
7 p.m. Friday – at Stanislaus State (0-1-1) | Stream | Stats

Headlines: In Wednesday's first NAIA coaches' poll of the regular season, the Raiders were the first team out with 74 voter points to No. 25-ranked Ottawa (Ariz.)'s 84. Their 3-0 start, which included an upset of then-No. 9 Embry-Riddle (Ariz.), gave them a boost relative to their preseason standing; their active two-game skid likely kept them out of the Top 25. After scoring six goals through their first 182 minutes on the field, they've gone scoreless over their last 268, taking the kind of lumps expected for a new attacking front. Saturday's game will be their sixth consecutive on the road. It'll also be their sixth against Stanislaus State since head coach Jenni Rosenberg, a graduate of and former assistant at the school, took over in 2013. They're winless against the Warriors, but the last two matchups were both decided by one goal.

No. 24 RAIDER MEN'S SOCCER (4-0-0)
2 p.m. Saturday – at Menlo (2-0-2) | Stream | Stats

Headlines: Another stiff road test awaits the Raiders, who appeared in the NAIA Top 25 on Wednesday for the first time in four years. Their final non-conference game takes them to Menlo (Calif.), their third straight unbeaten opponent and a team that already achieved favorable results against two of the Cascade Conference's best – tying Oregon Tech and taking down Corban, 2-0. SOU is 3-3 in the all-time series and defeated the Oaks each of the last two seasons. Adrian Villegas, currently leading the Raiders with three goals, will attempt to tally for the third straight outing. He's up to 23 career goals, just four behind his current teammate and SOU's all-time leader, Alan Gaytan.

RAIDER GOLF
9 a.m. Monday/Tuesday – at Oregon Tech Fall Classic

Headlines: The SOU golf teams will make their 2023-24 debuts with a couple rounds at Running Y Ranch Resort after placing fifth at the Cascade Conference Championships on the women's side and seventh on the men's side in their inaugural season. The Raider women added three newcomers to a returning group of three that includes senior Haley Brown, last year's 17th-place finisher at the CCC Championships; and the men made five additions to a team of four returners that includes two of the conference's top-20 performers a year ago, Ricky Reisner and Matt Forsyth. More on the newcomers will be published later this week.
