LEWISTON, Idaho – Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) punished Southern Oregon inside the arc en route to a 75-58 victory Friday night at the P1FCU Activity Center, boosting its Cascade Conference record to 8-1.
LCSC (10-5 overall) and Raiders (8-6, 6-2 CCC) entered the night among five one-loss teams atop the standings and were tied at 25 before the Warriors closed the first half with nine unanswered points. They never slowed down in the second and finished with a 57-percent mark from the field, the highest for an SOU opponent this season.
They achieved that accuracy by outscoring the Raiders 34-14 in the paint and getting impeccable contributions from their bench. Reserves Queintin Raynor, Gorden Boykins and Anthony Peoples Jr. combined to record 34 points on 15-of-20 shooting: Raynor and Boykins didn't miss any of their 11 attempts and hit on four 3-pointers.
The Warriors starters only attempted three 3s and didn't hit any of them. John Lustig got into the SOU defense for his 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds.
The Raiders were held to 37-percent shooting.
Cole McAninch led them off the bench with 11 points. The senior guard has scored in double figures six of SOU's last seven games.
Casson Rouse, who averaged 23.7 points in his first three outings for SOU, scored 10 in his fourth but was limited to just a pair of free throws after halftime.
Elijah Jackson and
Mason Whittaker contributed eight points apiece, both hitting a pair of 3s.
The Raiders are on the road again late Saturday, tipping off their game against Walla Walla (Wash.) at 9 p.m.
