COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – The No. 20-ranked Southern Oregon women's basketball established itself early in a 74-52 win at Walla Walla (Wash.), taking its record to 11-4 overall and 7-2 in the Cascade Conference on Saturday night at Windemuth Court.
Point guard
Meghan McIntyre led the charge with 18 points, four assists and three steals, and
Kami Walk scored 11 of her 15 during SOU's game-opening 14-2 run.
Sierra Scheppele matched Walk's point total by hitting 4-of-8 from 3-point distance.
A night after falling at No. 7-ranked Lewis-Clark State (Idaho), the Raiders saved a split of the road trip by pushing the Wolves (5-10, 2-8) to a 29-percent clip from the field. It represented the second-lowest mark for an opponent this season.
SOU also got stellar contributions from its reserves, including
Mallory Williams, who was perfect from the field in going for a career-high 10 points and four rebounds.
Emma Schmerbach had seven points, five rebounds and three steals, and
Eliza DiGiulio scored six.
Clara Robbins chimed in with seven rebounds and two blocked shots, marking the 10th time this season she has registered multiple blocks.
The Raiders were up 42-17 by halftime of their 16th consecutive win against the Wolves, who were paced by Savanah Zamora's 14 points.
SOU returns home next week to play Corban on Friday and Bushnell on Saturday. The Raiders sit one loss back of first place after LC State topped previously-unbeaten Oregon Tech on Saturday night.
