ASHLAND – Emma Baertlein and the Southern Oregon women's wrestling team were recognized Monday by the Cascade Conference following Sunday's successful duals against the NAIA's No. 9-ranked team, Vanguard (Calif.), and the NCAA's No. 7 team, Simon Fraser (B.C.).

The No. 5 Raiders earned CCC Under Armour Team of the Week kudos after their 'A' team defeated both teams – 42-4 over Vanguard and 28-14 over SFU – and their 'B' team procured a 25-23 win over the former.

Baertlein, a sophomore wrestling at 109 pounds, was voted the CCC Rize Laboratory Women's Wrestler of the Week for defeating back-to-back ranked opponents by technical fall. After topping Vanguard's No. 16 Angie Dill, 12-2, she blanked SFU's No. 7 Ivy Threatful, 10-0.

Ranked No. 4 in the NAIA at her weight, Baertlein improved to 7-0 in dual matches. She owns a 14-2 overall record.

The Raiders are in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Saturday for the Indiana Tech Open. Their final home dual is Feb. 3 against Umpqua C.C.
