ASHLAND – Southern Oregon's Andrew Herrera was voted the Cascade Conference's Rize Laboratory Men's Wrestler of the Week on Monday after defeating two ranked opponents during the No. 15 Raiders' impressive weekend on the road.

Herrera, the NAIA's No. 16-ranked individual at 197 pounds, won by 7-6 decision against MSU-Northern's No. 21 Carl Hansen in SOU's 25-10 win on Friday. A night later at No. 6 Providence (Mont.) he faced Liam Swanson, the man tied with him in the 197 poll, with the Raiders clinging to a three-point team lead and two matches to go. A takedown in the final seconds made him a 5-3 winner, and SOU went on to take the dual 19-17.

A senior from South Lake Tahoe, Calif., Herrera improved to 18-6 overall and 11-3 in dual matches. He has won seven consecutive dual matches against CCC opponents.

The Raiders own a 12-3 record entering their final week of the dual season. They meet No. 18 Eastern Oregon in Sweet Home at 5 p.m. Friday and host Corban at 6 p.m. Saturday. With two victories, they'd match their highest win total of the last 14 seasons.
