WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Alex Hjulmand scored a pair of first-half goals and No. 24-ranked Southern Oregon tacked on three more in the second of a 5-0 win at Walla Walla (Wash.) that kept the Raiders unbeaten in Cascade Conference play on Sunday afternoon.
SOU (10-2-1 overall, 7-0-1 CCC) ended its perfect road trip with a three-point cushion in first place after starting it two points behind Carroll (Mont.). Five regular season games remain, the first of which pits SOU against Carroll at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Ashland.
Kaito Nakayama assisted Hjulmand in the seventh minute to put the Raiders up against the Wolves (1-6-0, 1-6-0), and Felix Valenzuela Paz found him in the 41st. After the break Josué Ghiessy Biveghe, Sky Charley-Bolyard and Jayden Cameron scored on assists from Jin Inoue, Emi Rojo and Tristan Skerritt.
The Raiders had 29 total shots, including 18 on goal, compared to WWU's four. The shutout was their fifth over a six-game stretch.
In nine all-time matchups, SOU has outscored the Wolves 75-3 combined.
Following next week's key matchup with Carroll, the last four opponents on SOU's schedule are a combined 5-18-6 in circuit play.
