PORTLAND – No. 5-ranked Southern Oregon hit the halfway point of its Cascade Conference schedule with a stress-free sweep at Warner Pacific, winning 25-14, 25-13, 25-11 on Friday night at C.C. Perry Gymnasium.
Senior right-side hitter
Megan Perry was unstoppable again with 12 kills on 17 attempts, and senior libero
Kayla Neidigh became the eighth player in team history to hit the 1,200-dig mark with nine as part of a defense that kept the Knights at a .064 attacking average.
With their seventh consecutive victory, the Raiders went to 16-1 overall and 10-1 in the CCC. The sweep was their 10th of the season and fourth in a row. They remain tied in the loss column with Corban and Eastern Oregon but a match up in the win column for sole possession of first place.
Mackey Marin had eight kills and 13 digs,
Mylena Testoni had six kills and nine digs, and
Linda Conceicao went for six kills and a team-high four blocks for the Raiders.
Hannah Stadstad added six kills on nine swings and
Vitoria Mattos dished out 20 assists.
Perry, the CCC's most efficient attacker by a wide margin at a .385 average, hit .647 in her latest outing. Over her last four matches, the 6-foot-2 lefty has accumulated 42 kills compared to three attacking errors.
Neidigh needed one dig to hit her latest milestone and got it early before adding on. The reigning CCC Defensive Player of the Week is averaging 5.1 per set in SOU's last five matches.
The Knights remained winless at 0-12 overall and 0-10 in the circuit. SOU visits a team struggling to a similar degree, 11th-place Multnomah, at 4 p.m. Saturday. The Lions are the only team the Raiders have yet to see in CCC play.
