No. 5 Raiders streak past Multnomah in 3

PORTLAND – The No. 5-ranked Southern Oregon volleyball team is 17-1 for the third time in program history after easing past Multnomah by scores of 25-9, 25-15 and 25-13 on Saturday evening at Jim Skagen Court.

The Raiders' eighth consecutive victory, and fifth straight sweep, made them 11-1 in the Cascade Conference. Marin Mackey headed a well-rounded attack with 13 kills, nine digs and four assists as they remained unbeaten in 17 all-time matchups with the Lions (1-14, 1-10 CCC), who were the only conference team they hadn't seen this season.

SOU experienced few issues after scoring the first seven points of the brief affair. Hannah Stadstad had seven kills and four blocks, Tessa Zimmermann logged five kills and four blocks, and Linda Conceicao chipped in four kills and six blocks. That trio combined to attack at a .500 average.

Vitoria Mattos amassed a team-high 10 assists with 11 digs, picking up her second double-double of the season. Kayla Neidigh contributed 10 digs and two service aces.

The Lions finished with a negative-.067 attacking average, matching the lowest for an SOU opponent this season. They were victimized by 11 total blocks.

The Raiders have never before been 18-1. To get there, they'll have to go through No. 3-ranked Eastern Oregon next Friday in La Grande. The Mountaineers – who took their only CCC loss in four sets Sept. 7 in Ashland – and Corban remain tied in the loss column with SOU atop the standings.
