SALEM – Taylor Anderson had 23 points and seven assists and Jay Wilson scored 22 to lead hot-shooting Corban to an 80-61 win against Southern Oregon in Cascade Conference play Saturday evening at Tim Hills Court.
The Warriors (16-9 overall, 13-7 CCC) shot 56 percent from the field and went 17-of-28 in the second half another fourth-place tie with the Raiders (15-11, 13-7), who settled for a split of their final road trip.
Rights to the No. 4 seed and homecourt advantage in the quarterfinal round of the CCC Tournament will come down to the last weekend, when SOU hosts Walla Walla (Wash.) and Lewis-Clark State (Idaho). Corban has to travel to Eastern Oregon and No. 3-ranked College of Idaho.
The Raiders fell behind 17-4 in the first six minutes of the game and never got out of that hole. They trimmed a nine-point halftime deficit to 35-31 early in the second before Reece Van Lierop and Wilson responded with back-to-back 3-pointers. Trailing by seven minutes later, Anderson kept the Warriors in control with three straight buckets. He scored 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field in the period.
Cole McAninch led the Raiders with 14 points and four rebounds but fouled out in 22 minutes.
Dominic McGarvey scored 12, and
Mason Whittaker went 3-of-5 from 3 to add nine points.
SOU and Corban split their regular-season series for the fourth year in a row.
Elsewhere in the circuit, College of Idaho clinched at least a share of its fourth consecutive CCC title. The Yotes have won 19 straight games since their 81-75 loss at SOU on Dec. 1.
