SOU falls to LC State, takes CCC's No. 4 seed anyway

ASHLAND – Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) was clinical offensively in an 87-76 win against Southern Oregon that capped the Cascade Conference regular season Saturday evening at Lithia Motors Pavilion.

The Warriors (21-7 overall, 19-3 CCC) shot 52 percent from the field, hit 26-of-27 attempts at the free-throw line and committed just six turnovers to lock up sole possession of second place in the standings. Davian Brown scored a game-high 21 points, had three steals and connected on all 10 of his tries at the line.

The performance was enough to withstand a 3-point barrage from the Raiders (16-12, 14-8), who hit their first seven attempts from downtown and finished the first half 11-of-19 but trailed 47-43 at the break anyway. Brett Hollins went 4-of-5 from 3 to tally a career-high 19 points in addition to his seven rebounds and three assists.

The loss had no bearing on the Raiders' CCC Tournament positioning. As the No. 4 seed, they'll host Corban – which they matched in standings but held a tiebreaker over – at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the quarterfinal round. The winner will advance to Saturday's semifinals, and the title game is scheduled for March 5.

The Warriors came out of halftime on a 14-4 run bookended by baskets from forward Alton Hamilton, who totaled 13 points and seven rebounds. Jaedon Bradley joined Brown in the backcourt with 19 points, and point guard Sam Stockton went for 11 and six assists.

By the 12-minute mark, their lead had expanded to 17 points.

The Raiders got 16 points and seven rebounds from Dominic McGarvey and 10 points from Casson Rouse. Cole McAninch, who hit both of his 3-point attempts, totaled nine points and three assists.
