ASHLAND – Southern Oregon's most efficient offensive performance in a month translated to an 86-76 Cascade Conference win over Northwest (Wash.) on Friday night at Lithia Motors Pavilion.
Teron Bradford delivered team-highs of 15 points, six rebounds and six assists to push the Raiders to a 53-percent shooting display, which included a 23-of-34 effort inside the 3-point line.
Brett Hollins pitched in on both ends, finishing with 13 points, five rebounds, four blocked shots and two steals.
The outcome made the Raiders 13-10 overall and 11-6 in the CCC going into Saturday's 5 p.m. game against Evergreen (Wash.). They stayed in a fifth-place tie with Bushnell and are one game out of fourth with five regular-season contests remaining.
The Raiders never trailed, but what had been a 12-point lead after back-to-back buckets from Hollins and Bradford to open the second half was cut to 72-67 with six minutes left. The Eagles never got any closer, as Bradford found
Ethan Blythe for a layup before SOU got three consecutive stops while extending its mini-run with baskets inside from Hollins and
Casson Rouse.
Rouse hit 4-of-7 3-point attempts off the bench to score 14 points. Another reserve,
Khalil Chatman, joined him in double figures with 12 points and five boards, and
Mason Whittaker checked in with seven second-half points.
The Raiders' bench outscored Northwest's 43-21. They also limited the Eagles' top scorer, Luke Howard, to 7-of-18 shooting and their second-leading scorer, Lewis Pope, to a 0-of-8 night.
Cole McAninch chipped in eight points with a pair of 3-pointers and five rebounds.
Jordan Veening scored seven.
Bradford, a junior point guard, didn't commit a turnover during his six-assist outing. He has recorded 19 assists and one turnover combined over SOU's last five games.
The Raiders improved to 7-1 at home against CCC opponents and swept Northwest in the regular-season series.
