Points in the standings are awarded based on an institution's finishes at the NAIA Championships in up to 13 sports. SOU scored in 10 of them, accumulating 184 ½ points in the fall, 238 in the winter and 159 ½ in the spring.

Prior to the 2012-13 season, SOU had never placed higher than 22nd in the standings. Since then, the Raiders have been among the top-18 on eight occasions under Matt Sayre, who last week was named the Cascade Conference Athletic Director of the Year for the third time.

SOU's sixth-place finish in 2014-15 still stands as the best for a CCC school since the Cup debuted at the NAIA level in 1995-96.

SOU posted top-10 showings in four sports during 2023-24: women's wrestling (3rd place), softball (7th), women's cross country (8th) and women's volleyball (tied-9th). The Raider men's wrestling team placed 11th at the NAIA Championships, while the men's soccer and women's basketball teams were credited with 17th-place finishes. Women's outdoor track and field, women's indoor track and field, and men's outdoor track and field supplied the rest of the points.

College of Idaho and Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) were the only other CCC schools among the top-30 in the standings. Cumberlands (Ky.) won the overall title.
