LEWISTON, Idaho – No. 5-ranked Southern Oregon escaped the P1FCU Activity Center with a 25-22, 25-27, 25-20, 30-28 win over Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) on Saturday, completing a weekend sweep of its Cascade Conference road trip.
Marin Mackey registered 19 kills and a career-high 25 digs,
Megan Perry had 16 kills, and the Raiders (12-1 overall, 6-1 CCC), moved back into a tie for first place in the standings thanks to their win and Corban's five-set loss to Eastern Oregon.
The Raiders had to duck two LC State set-points in the fourth, though they squandered three of their own before finishing the job. Trailing 27-26, they went in front on
Mylena Testoni's kill and
Tais Vega's service ace. After the Warriors leveled the score at 28, SOU won the match on another Testoni kill followed by Perry and
Linda Conceicao's team-effort block.
They were also in a 22-20 hole in the first set before rattling off five consecutive points to steal it. The run was built on two Perry kills and three unforced LC State attacking errors.
The Warriors fell to 9-4 overall and 6-2 in the CCC. They've dropped seven of eight matchups with SOU since joining the conference in 2021.
Annie Hite joined Mackey with a career-high figure, dropping 34 assists as part of SOU's .211 attack and coming up with nine digs. Testoni finished with nine kills and 17 digs,
Kayla Neidigh collected 19 digs, and
Friley Curtiss and
Hannah Stadstad added nine and eight kills, respectively.
The Raiders survived despite getting stuffed with 16 blocks. LCSC's Missy Mortensen had 10 of them. Juliauna Forgach-Aguilar had 19 digs.
The day ended with SOU, Corban and EOU atop the standings with one loss apiece. Both of the Raiders' weekend opponents, Walla Walla and LCSC, entered the weekend with one CCC loss.
