SOU scores 2-0 win at Bushnell

EUGENE – Bushnell didn't get off a shot in the Southern Oregon women's soccer team's 2-0 victory on Friday at Civic Park, which made the Raiders 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the Cascade Conference.

Frida Vargas' team-leading fourth assist of the season went to Mia Ammons for the lead in the 39th minute. Ava Johnson scored her team-leading fifth goal in the 82nd minute on a penalty kick.

SOU threatened to make the score uglier with 18 total shots, six of which Beacons keeper Ana Augusto saved.

The shutout was the Raiders' second in a row and fourth of the season. It was also the second time they've held an opponent without an on-target shot.

Dating back to last season, SOU is unbeaten in its last four CCC road games with wins in four of them.

The Raiders improved to 19-0-2 all-time against Bushnell (2-6, 0-2). The Beacons have gone scoreless against them in the teams' last seven matchups.

SOU completes the trip Saturday in Salem with a 12 p.m. match at Corban. The Warriors fell to 4-3-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference with Friday's 1-0 loss to Oregon Tech.
