Raiders score 3 in 2nd half to beat Battlin’ Bears

BILLINGS, Mont. –
The Southern Oregon women's soccer team turned up the heat in the second half to secure a 3-0 win against Rocky Mountain (Mont.) on Thursday afternoon at Herb Klindt Field. 

After a scoreless first half, Abby McKean put the Raiders on the board with a goal in the 58th minute, assisted by Brooklyn Hayes. It was her second goal of the year and Hayes' second assist. Kaylah Bresee then connected on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute to push the Raider lead to 2-0. Hayes later had a goal of her own and extended the lead to 3-0, assisted by Macie Yannoni in the 84th minute.

The Raiders improved to 6-1-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the Cascade Conference. They've scored a total of 12 goals in their last four matches and have held opponents to a combined three goals. 

Keeper Brittany Standley kept Rocky Mountain off the board with three saves, improving her save percentage to .821 for the year.  

Bresee's goal was her third in the last three outings, coming off of just five shots.

Hayes leads SOU in goals (4) and total points (10). 

The Battlin' Bears (4-2-1 overall) dropped their first game in the Cascade Conference (2-1-1). 

The Raiders remain in Big Sky Country to face Carroll on Saturday at 11 a.m.
