ASHLAND – The Southern Oregon University men's soccer team will attempt to complete a perfect regular-season home slate as the final stretch of the Cascade Conference schedule begins this weekend at Raider Stadium's Laurel Field.

Trouble on the road has all but taken the fourth-place Raiders (9-3-2 overall, 4-3-1 CCC) out of conference title contention, but a top-three seed is still well within reach as they prepare to host Corban (4-8-2, 2-4-2) on Friday and Bushnell (9-3-2, 3-3-2) on Saturday. Both games are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. starts.

WEEKEND FESTIVITIES: Fans are encouraged to wear pink on Friday for Breast Cancer Awareness Day. Admission is free for everyone on Saturday, which will be a "Red Out" theme in addition to Senior Day and SOU's annual Latino Day. The festivities will include a beer garden, taco truck, Latin music and more.

LAST WEEK IN REVIEW: The Raiders secured one point with Friday's 0-0 draw at College of Idaho, which marked their fifth clean sheet of the season. The night was still a frustrating one, as they accumulated more shots (22) without a goal than in any scoreless game since 2018. They fell 1-0 the next night at first-place Eastern Oregon as Henry Lopez skipped in a free kick for the game-winner in the 54th minute. The Raiders hadn't given up a goal against EOU since the 2019 postseason, but they played a man down for the final 53 minutes.

NAIA RANKINGS: SOU continued to receive votes at No. 38 overall in last week's NAIA coaches' poll, which was released ahead of the road trip. This week the Raiders are No. 53 in the NAIA RPI computer rankings and No. 7 in the NAIA West Area Rating Committee (ARC) rankings, both more relevant to the NAIA Tournament selection process than the coaches' poll. In short: the Raiders need a big finish or to make a run in the CCC Tournament to get a spot in the 40-team national tourney. Eastern Oregon is No. 9 and Carroll (Mont.) is No. 22 in the RPI rankings.

BRIEFLY:
  • The Raiders are 6-0 at home and have won seven straight in Ashland dating back to last season. Schedule imbalance has played a large part in their home-away splits: Of the other top-six teams in the standings, they'll have played each of them on the road by the end of next week. During CCC play, they've scored 12 goals in four home games and one in four away games.
  • With two wins this weekend, the Raiders would clinch their 10th consecutive winning CCC record.
  • Senior goalkeeper Casey Ruvolo is sitting on 27 career shutouts, three away from tying the SOU record. He leads all CCC keepers with an 80% save rate and is 16 saves away from becoming the first Raider ever to reach 200 in a career.
  • Irwin Leon is fourth on the CCC points leaderboard (21) with nine goals and three assists. One more goal would make him the seventh Raider to tally 10 in a single season, and two more would put him at No. 2 on SOU's all-time single-season list.
  • Twenty-four of the Raiders' 30 goals have been assisted. Papa Yansane leads the team with four.

ABOUT CORBAN: The Warriors have been at their best in October, rattling off a three-game unbeaten streak before last week's 2-0 loss to Bushnell. Santiago Castano (4 goals, 4 assists) and Zachary Milczarek (5 goals, 1 assist) give them two legitimate attacking threats as they try to fight their way back into the playoff picture. They earned a 0-0 draw with SOU last season, but the Raiders are 5-0-3 over the last eight matchups.

ABOUT BUSHNELL: The 2025 season has already been an unqualified success for Bushnell, which stands in seventh place after being picked 10th in the CCC preseason poll, has broken the team record for overall victories, and is in position to make its first postseason appearance since 2017. Junior forward Omar Barajas leads the team with 11 goals and six assists, though he has been limited to one goal over his last seven outings, while Danny Rojas has picked up the slack of late with seven goals and three assists. SOU is 11-0-1 in the all-time series; the Beacons haven't gotten a result against the Raiders since a 2017 draw.
