KIRKLAND, Wash. – Kaitlyn Mickle and Delaney Sparks put down 14 kills each as No. 23-ranked Northwest (Wash.) scored a 25-19, 25-18, 20-25, 25-18 win against Southern Oregon in a Cascade Conference match Friday night at Brodin Pavilion.
Sparks, a senior right-side hitter, was particularly potent with only two attacking errors in leading the Eagles (11-4 overall, 5-4 CCC) to a .274 average. As a team, they totaled 55 kills compared to 15 errors, only eight of which were unforced.
The Raiders slid to 6-10 overall and 3-6 in the conference. They were led by
Friley Curtiss's 12 kills and four blocks,
Annie Hite's 23 assists and nine digs, and
Tais Vega's 15 digs and two aces.
Andressa Ribeiro Soares, SOU's top attacker, contributed 12 kills and nine digs, but the Eagles bottled her up with a .083 attacking average.
Maya Watters had four of her eight kills in the third-set victory. The Raiders trailed 15-13 in the fourth before Northwest pulled away with four straight points.
Of the Raiders' 10 losses, this was their seventh against a team in the current NAIA Top 25.
They'll try to snap a three-match losing streak Saturday at 10th-place Evergreen (Wash.). The match starts at 4 p.m.
