SOU caps non-conference slate with 73-69 loss to The Master's

FULLERTON, Calif. – Southern Oregon will be eager to come home for the first time after failing to find its shooting touch on the road in non-conference play, a seven-game slate that concluded with Tuesday's 73-69 loss to The Master's (Calif.) at Darling Pavilion.

The Raiders faced their largest deficit at 58-47 with 6:30 left before heating up briefly for an 11-0 push that tied the score. The Mustangs answered with seven straight points behind Jazen Guillory, who scored 15 of his 17 in the second half.

With SOU down four and 1:10 to play, Elijah Jackson intercepted a pass and went coast-to-coast for a layup. The Raiders then drew an offensive foul to get the ball back with a chance to tie, but Joe Juhala's floater inside went off rim and to the Mustangs.

Jackson and Juhala sparked the comeback with 17 and 13 points, respectively. They combined for 21 after halftime, and Juhala also collected a game-high eight rebounds.

The Raiders (2-5), however, continued to be held back by their 3-point woes, failing to get over 30% (10-of-35) from downtown for the fifth time in their last six games. They shot 37% on the Cascade Conference's highest volume a season ago.

Bryce Dyer chipped in eight points and seven rebounds, and Luke Wagstaff hit a pair from 3 to score eight.

Tiago Soares totaled 14 points for TMU (5-4), which started the second half with an 8-1 surge after the teams were tied at the break.

SOU will make its Lithia Motors Pavilion debut on the opening weekend of CCC play, hosting Northwest (Wash.) on Dec. 5 and Evergreen (Wash.) on Dec. 6.
