Raiders drub Simpson to complete 2-0 homestand

ASHLAND – The No. 15-ranked Southern Oregon women's basketball team ran its home winning streak to 29 games by defeating Simpson (Calif.) 66-51 on Friday night at Lithia Motors Pavilion, completing a perfect week in the Raider Classic.

Eliza DiGiulio shot 4-of-5 from 3-point range to log 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Raiders (2-2), who limited the Red Hawks (2-2) to four total field goals in the second half.

Bridgette McIntyre hit five more 3s and scored 17, including 11 during a third quarter in which SOU blew up a one-point lead by outscoring Simpson 24-8. McIntyre also dished out five assists, while Sage Winslow contributed eight points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals off the bench.

Thirteen of SOU's 21 total field goals came from beyond the arc. Jenika Zurita hit a pair.

The Raiders overcame 33% shooting and 24 turnovers by collecting 16 more offensive rebounds (24) than the Red Hawks (6). They also turned the 24 turnovers they forced into 23 points.

Destiny Nichols led the Red Hawks with 20 points. She scored 11 of those during the first quarter as they jumped out to a 21-15 lead.

Millie Day chipped in six rebounds and a 3-pointer, and Keely Wright and Reyce Mogel had three steals apiece for the Raiders. They've won 28 of 29 all-time meetings with Simpson.

They'll be in Klamath Falls next Friday to face Park Gilbert (Ariz.) as part of the Lithia-Oregon Tech Classic.
