COMPLETE TOURNAMENT RESULTS
GREAT FALLS, Mont. – All-America sophomores
Lillian Gradillas-Flores and
Kat Hingano were crowned tournament champions for the No. 14-ranked Southern Oregon women's wrestling team on Saturday at the Battle of the Rockies.
It was the second title in as many outings at 207 pounds this season for Gradillas-Flores, the NAIA's No. 3-ranked wrestler in her class, and the fourth career title for Hingano, ranked No. 3 at 180.
Makayla Correa (138 pounds) and
Hadyn Stine (160) were also finalists, while
Holland Wieber (145) and
Vida Boskovic (160) both placed third.
The Raiders placed third out of 14 in the team standings with 107 ½ points, finishing only behind No. 4-ranked Providence (Mont.) (155 ½) and No. 5 Indiana Tech (110 ½). They got additional points from fourth-place finishers
Briseis Serrano (117),
Jade Morales (131) and
Sadie Hall (145).
Gradillas-Flores upped her record to 7-0 by registering first-round pins against all three of her opponents. Her championship-round victim was Providence's Mckenzie Mills, who went down in 2:25.
Hingano – who placed third last week at the Menlo Open – also won all three of her matches by fall, defeating Providence's Kacey Lee Pua for the 180 title in 2:45.
Stine, a freshman ranked 20th at 160, opened with back-to-back pins and won a 6-6 semifinal on tiebreaker criteria in upset fashion against Providence's No. 11 Hailey Sutton. The unranked Correa recorded two pins and a technical fall on her way to the 138 final, upsetting No. 11 Hannah Seitzinger of Indiana Tech in her semifinal.
Wieber went 4-1 with two pins and two technical falls and Boskovic was 4-1 with three pins, upsetting Sutton in her third-place match.
The Raiders are off until Dec. 6, when they'll travel to Evergreen (Wash.) for their dual opener.
