ASHLAND – Southern Oregon forced nine first-quarter turnovers to open up a 14-point lead and limited Northwest (Wash.) to 26% shooting in a 71-36 victory that marked the Cascade Conference opener for both teams on Friday night at Lithia Motors Pavilion.
Eliza DiGiulio scored 12 and Bridgette McIntyre had 11 to lead the Raiders, who improved to 6-3 overall and ran their CCC winning streak to 37 games.
DiGiulio, a senior from Portland, went 4-of-9 from the field and posted three rebounds, two steals, and two assists, while McIntyre's 11 came with six rebounds and a pair of assists.
The Raider defense forced 30 Northwest turnovers, held the Eagle offense to just 10% shooting from 3-point range, and recorded its highest block and steal totals for a single game this season, with eight and 17, respectively. Lydia Traore spearheaded the pressure with three blocks and three steals, while Taylee Clements had three steals of her own.
Ten other Raiders tacked onto the scoring column, including Sage Winslow with nine points and six rebounds, and Keeley Wright with seven points, four rebounds, and four assists.
Ali Stevens scored her first points of the season and a career high, going for eight on 4-of-5 shooting in just four minutes of action. She also recorded two steals.
Traore scored eight points on 4-of-7 shooting, and Clements knocked down a 3-pointer.
The 35-point margin of victory is the largest for SOU this season.
Kaleah Medeiros led Northwest (3-5, 0-1 CCC) with eight points.
The Raiders are home again at 3 p.m. Saturday to face Evergreen (Wash.).
