SOU tops Evergreen to match win-streak record

By Isaac Fernandez, Assistant SID

OLYMPIA, Wash.
— No. 4-ranked Southern Oregon matched a team record with its 21st consecutive win, cruising 79-57 over Evergreen (Wash.) on Saturday at the Costantino Recreation Center.

Meghan McIntyre had season-highs of 19 points and four 3-pointers, and Eliza Diguilio scored 15 to lead the Raiders to their 13th victory of 20 or more points this season. They improved to 21-0 overall, 15-0 in the Cascade Conference, and will have a chance to break the win-stream mark – first established in 2015-16 – against rival and second-place Oregon Tech at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Ashland.

McIntyre ended the night 5-of-9 from the field with four assists and three rebounds, scoring 15-plus for the fourth time this season. DiGiulio went 6-of-12 with a steal in her first career start.

SOU took the lead early and never trailed after two 3-pointers from Bridgette McIntyre, both assisted by her sister. The Raiders closed out the final five minutes of the first half on a 15-2 run fueled by eight points from the elder McIntyre to extend the lead 39-21.

Bridgette McIntyre added 11 points, five assists, four rebounds, and a steal. Clara Robbins scored in double digits for the second time this year, adding 11 points and eight rebounds.

The Raiders shot 12-of-25 from downtown, eclipsing 40% for the 10th time. Six different Raiders made a three-pointer, including Robbins, who made her first of the season.

SOU held the Geoducks (1-17 overall, 1-14 Cascade Conference) to 35% shooting on the night. Mikail Montez, Sydney VanNess, and Jalyn Sackrider all scored 12 for Evergreen.

The Raiders enter Tuesday's matchup with a two-game lead in first place ahead of No. 23 OIT. In the first meeting, the Owls stormed out to a 16-0 lead before falling 65-58.
