ASHLAND – Five Southern Oregon University basketball players were named Academic All-District performers by the College Sports Communicators this week.
The Raider women hit the maximum of four honorees with
Morgan Baird,
Meghan McIntyre,
Clara Robbins and
Mallory Williams. The Raider men were represented by
Bryce Dyer.
The award is designed to recognize student-athletes for a combination of their performances on the field and in the classroom. To become eligible, an individual must be at least a sophomore with a minimum GPA of 3.5 and participate in at least 90% of their team's games or start two-thirds of them.
Each of SOU's All-District performers are now eligible for Academic All-America consideration.
Baird (4.0 GPA, MBA), McIntyre (3.77, communications) and Dyer (3.99, business management) were All-Cascade Conference selections this season, and Baird was named a WBCA All-American on Monday. Robbins (3.99, health & PE) finished her career as SOU's all-time leader in blocked shots, and Williams (3.91, psychology) finished near the top of the Raider record book as a 40% career 3-point shooter.
The Academic All-America teams will be announced April 15.
