LIVE STATS

ASHLAND – Southern Oregon led 2-1 against College of Idaho in the bottom of the fourth inning when rain forced the suspension of the Raiders' first game in the Ashland Bracket of the NAIA Softball Championship Opening Round on Monday at University Field.

The contest is scheduled to resume at 11 a.m. Tuesday. It shook up the rest of the week's schedule, which is detailed above. The SOU-CI winner will play Hope International (Calif.) at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, while the loser will begin elimination-bracket play at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

When play resumes, the top-seeded Raiders (45-8) will have a runner at third base with one out in the fourth. They scored both of their runs in that inning, which Vanessa Lang and Kierstin Grotewiel led off with back-to-back singles. Lang eventually scored on Faith Moultrie's RBI groundout and Brooke Nordahl, who reached on a fielder's choice, followed on a wild pitch.

SOU pitcher Ayla Davies was cruising. She struck out nine through the first four innings, and the only run on her ledger came in after a routine fly ball was lost in the sun and turned into a triple.

The fifth-seeded Yotes advanced to the game after defeating fourth-seeded Keiser (Fla.), 9-6, in the first game of the tournament.
