No. 3 Warriors down SOU in straight sets

ASHLAND – The No. 3-ranked Corban volleyball team's array of attackers and size at the net was too much for No. 25 Southern Oregon in a 25-22, 25-18, 25-20 Cascade Conference sweep on Saturday afternoon at Lithia Motors Pavilion.

Kendra Bittle logged nine kills, four blocks and two service aces, and Gracie Boeder put down seven kills on 13 swings while getting in on eight blocks as the Warriors improved to 12-3 overall and 6-2 in the CCC.

They had a 12-4 advantage in blocks as a team, sinking the Raiders (6-9, 3-5) to a .172 attacking average. Emma Bischoff assisted five and collected 10 digs, while Addison Mills contributed eight kills on 12 attempts and five blocks.

After trailing 11-8 in the first set, the Warriors took control with seven consecutive points. They had a pair of 5-0 runs in the second and scored the first four points of the third.

Tais Vega accumulated 18 digs and Friley Curtiss had 10 kills to lead the Raiders. Maya Watters chipped in nine kills and Tessa Zimmermann had five without an error.

Seven of SOU's nine losses have come against teams currently in the NAIA Top 25. The Raiders were Corban's sixth nationally-ranked victim of the season.

SOU travels to Washington next weekend to face Northwest on Friday and Evergreen on Saturday.
