ASHLAND – The Southern Oregon University volleyball team will go into its Cascade Conference openers with the No. 19 ranking in the first NAIA Top 25 coaches' poll of the regular season.
The Raiders fell from their No. 6 preseason standing following a 3-4 start. They had a week off to regroup after dropping three of four matches at the Hope International Summer Slam, where they faced three current top-15 teams.
Their CCC title defense begins Friday at Lewis-Clark State (Idaho), which received Top 25 votes on the strength of its 3-0 start. The trip concludes Saturday at Walla Walla (Wash.), which sits at 2-1 and features the reigning NAIA Attacker of the Week in Sahara Browning.
The conference continues to boast three top-10 squads: Eastern Oregon took over the No. 1 spot, Corban is No. 4, and College of Idaho climbed eight spots to No. 10. EOU and C of I visit Ashland next weekend.
