ASHLAND – Southern Oregon came back from 20 points down to tie the score in the fourth quarter, but College of Idaho prevailed 66-60 behind Taryn Riley's 14 points and Kylie Waltermeyer's double-double on Friday night at Lithia Motors Pavilion.
Riley broke a 60-60 tie on a layup with 1:54 left, then hit a pair of free throws to make it a multiple-possession game for good. She shot 5-of-6 from the field while Waltermeyer totaled 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Yotes (11-4 overall, 5-2 Cascade Conference).
Eliza DiGuilio and Sage Winslow scored 11 points apiece for SOU, and Jenika Zurita also had 11 off the bench. Alex Bullock grabbed a game-high four steals and Lydia Traore recorded two blocks. The Raiders (10-5, 5-2) had won their last 23 CCC home games.
The Yotes shot 63 percent from the field to jump out to a 41-25 first-half lead, but were held to just six points in the third quarter, keeping the door open for a Southern Oregon rally. With five minutes to go in the third until a minute into the fourth, the Raiders scored 15 unanswered points to cut the deficit to three. DiGuilio hit a 3-pointer to tie the contest up with two minutes remaining, but a pair of costly turnovers plagued the Raiders' endgame.
Riley Beck had 10 points and seven rebounds for CI, which had an advantage of 17-4 in fastbreak points.
SOU hosts undefeated Eastern Oregon (15-0, 7-0) on Saturday at 3 p.m., who are coming off a 68-64 upset win over No. 20 Oregon Tech.
