ASHLAND – Southern Oregon's Mason Weisgerber was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's NAIA Athlete of the Week and joined Raider volleyball player Annie Hite as a Cascade Conference Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Weisgerber, a senior and four-time All-American from Wilsonville, was the second-place finisher in a field of 288 runners on Saturday at Willamette's Charles Bowles Invitational. Last year's national runner-up posted a time of 24:11.3 on the 8,000-meter course, a second and a half ahead of teammate Carter Stedman.

Weisgerber was the top NAIA placer in the field. He and the No. 2-ranked Raiders were third out of 15 in the team standings, trailing only NCAA Division I teams Portland and Nevada.

Hite was voted the CCC Setter of the Week following a weekend home sweep of Northwest (Wash.) and Evergreen (Wash.) for No. 17-ranked SOU. The Vancouver, Wash., product directed the Raiders to their top attacking averages yet in conference play, .289 and .390, while averaging 7.3 assists and two digs per set.

Hite and the Raiders own an overall record of 14-6. They finished the first half of the CCC schedule at 6-4 and visit Walla Walla (Wash.) and No. 11 Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) this weekend.
