CALDWELL, Idaho – Kylie Waltermeyer's hot start and game-high 20 points pushed the College of Idaho women's basketball team to a wire-to-wire victory against Southern Oregon, 67-52 in the Cascade Conference regular-season finale Saturday afternoon at Elgin Baylor Arena.
The loss landed SOU (19-9 overall, 14-6 CCC) in a fifth-place with Oregon Tech. The Owls earned the head-to-head tiebreaker, making the Raiders the No. 6 seed in next week's CCC Tournament. They'll play a quarterfinal game against No. 3 seed Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) on Friday at a time yet to be announced.
Corban and Eastern Oregon finished as co-champions with matching 16-4 conference records. Corban won that tiebreaker and, as the No. 1 seed, will host the entire CCC Tournament in Salem.
The Yotes (21-7, 15-5) jumped the Raiders in the standings and seized the No. 4 seed with a weekend sweep. Behind Waltermeyer's eight points, they got out to a 17-12 lead after one quarter and pushed it to 16 points by halftime.
Waltermeyer shot 7-of-13 from the field with four 3-pointers, grabbed six rebounds and blocked two shots to go with a steal. Annie Stinar added 11 points on three 3-pointers and distributed three assists.
Eliza DiGiulio's 15 points and seven rebounds were team-highs for the Raiders.
Sage Winslow scored 10 and had four rebounds.
For the second day in a row, SOU shot a touch under 30% from the field.
