ASHLAND — The No. 4-ranked Southern Oregon beach volleyball team enjoyed a successful Friday, handing No. 2-ranked Corban its first Cascade Conference loss of the season and defeating Bushnell at the Raider Beach Courts. 

The Raiders dropped their first match against the Warriors before claiming four straight to win 4-1. The No. 2 pair of Molly Grace and Kira Sandoval put SOU on the board, winning 21-19, 17-21, 15-12, and No. 5 pair Natalie Perez and Kendal Hadwick gave them the lead with a straight set sweep, 21-16, 21-16. 

The No. 3 pair of Andressa Ribeiro Soares and Maelle Garon dropped their first set, 17-21, before battling back 21-17 and 17-15 to clinch the dual victory. The top pair of Tessa Zimmermann and Grace Gulbrandsen also dropped their first set 21-23, before rallying back 22-20 and 15-13 . 

Southern Oregon snapped an eight dual losing streak against Corban (19-4 overall, 12-1 Cascade Conference), with five of those duals being 3-2. They improved to 12-2 overall,10-1 in the Cascade Conference and stretched their win streak to eight.  

In their second dual of the day, the Raiders topped the Beacons 4-1. They saw straight set victories from Zimmermann and Gulbrandsen, Ribeiro Soares and Garon, and Perez and Hadwick. 

SOU remains second in the CCC standings behind Corban, who each have one conference loss apiece. They play a rematch on Saturday at noon.
