SOU extends program record with 10th consecutive win

4/3/2026 7:22:00 PM

SEATTLE — Four of the Raider pairs saw straight set wins as the No. 2 Southern Oregon beach volleyball team extended its historic winning streak to 10 with a sweep of Northwest (Wash.) on Friday at 4th Avenue Beach.

SOU dropped only one set all day, improving to 14-2 overall and 12-1 in the Cascade Conference, while the Eagles fell to 3-10 overall. The Raiders jumped from fourth to second – their highest ranking in program history – in the NAIA Top 10 coaches' poll on Wednesday.

Their top pair of Tessa Zimmermann and Grace Gulbrandsen saw a straight set sweep, winning 21-13 and 21-17. The No. 2 pair of Molly Grace and Kira Sandoval dropped their first set before forcing a tiebreaker and taking it 15-11.

The reigning NAIA pair of the week, SOU's No. 5 pair of Natalie Perez and Kendal Hadwick, also won two straight sets 21-12 and 21-15. Perez and Hadwick haven't dropped a match since Feb. 21 in a 2-3 Raider loss against Sacramento State.

Both the No. 3 pair of Andressa Ribeiro Soares and Maelle Garon and No. 4 pair Amanda Moffat and Kaitlyn Shilling won in two sets. They each held Northwest to a combined 26 points on the day.

The Raiders stay in Seattle and play their final two duals of the regular season on Saturday versus College of Idaho at noon and Northwest at 2 p.m. With two wins, they'd claim the CCC title outright. With one, they'd share the title with Corban, but still own the tiebreaker to host the CCC Tournament on April 9-10 in Ashland.
