ASHLAND – The Southern Oregon University men's cross country shot to No. 2 in the NAIA Top 25 for the first time since 2019 and the Raider women went to No. 18 in the latest polls released Thursday by the national office.

The Raiders men received two first-place votes in the poll, which was the first of the regular season. They were No. 3 in the preseason Top 25 and tied with Indiana Wesleyan this time around after winning handily as a team in their first two races of the season.

Cumberlands (Ky.) retained the No. 1 spot with 17 first-place votes. In addition to SOU, the Cascade Conference was represented by No. 5 College of Idaho, No. 8 Corban, No. 19 Northwest (Wash.) and No. 25 Eastern Oregon.

The new SOU women's ranking represented an eight-spot drop from their preseason post. The CCC had x more Top 25 teams: No. 3 College of Idaho, No. 15 Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) and No. 22 Eastern Oregon. Milligan (Tenn.) took over as the new No. 1.

The Raiders are off this week before traveling to Salem for Willamette's Charles Bowles Invitational on Oct. 3.
