Raiders Drop Pair In Idaho

The College of Idaho swept a key Cascade Conference doubleheader from Southern Oregon, 7-2, 7-3, today in Caldwell, Idaho.

The Coyotes improved to 9-9 overall and 6-4 in conference play. Southern Oregon dropped to 9-17 overall and 5-7 in conference action. SOU travels to Eastern Oregon Saturday.

In the opener, the Coyotes jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on a hit and an error and then added two more runs in the second on three hits.

Southern Oregon came alive in the sixth as hits by Kathryn Moy, Justine Fulton (Reno, Nev./McQueen), Meghan Laughlin (Honolulu, Hawaii/Mid-Pacific Institute) and Bailey Price (Napa, Calif./Vintage) led to the Raiders cutting the College of Idaho lead to 4-2, bu the Coyotes plated three runs in the bottom of the frame to re-gain control of the game.

Fulton, Price and Jessica Flores (Corning, Calif./Corning) all had two hits for the Raiders.

Jody Zillner picked up the win for the Coyotes and also hit a home run for the hosts.

In the second game, Southern Oregon came out on fire. Moy led off the game with a single and Fulton reached by an error. Singles by Laughlin and Price and a fielders choice helped the Raiders take a 2-0 lead. Laughlin then scored on a wild pitch and the Raiders had a 3-0 lead after the top of the first.

The Yotes came back with a single run in the first and three in second, highlighted by a two-run single by Dani Villyard. The Yotes pushed the lead to 7-3 in the fifth with three runs.

Moy and Rayna Okimoto (Honolulu, Hawaii/Aiea) had two hits to lead the Raiders.
