Another cold shooting night by the Southern Oregon men's basketball team resulted in a 93-69 setback to Humboldt State tonight in an exhibition game at Arcata, Calif.
The Raiders (1-1) return to regular season play Friday and Saturday in Klamath Falls. SOU plays Lee University Friday night and Bethany Saturday night.
A pair of free throws by
Jarrad Childs (Paso Robles, Calif./Paso Robles) trimmed Humboldt's early lead to 5-4 at the 17:22 mark of the first half, but the Lumberjacks then took off.
Kyle Baxter hit a 3-pointer to give the NCAA Division II Lumberjacks an 18-5 lead.
A 3-pointer by Zac Tiedeman had the hosts cruising at 30-13 with 8:08 to play in the first half and Humboldt led 45-17 at the half and put the game away early.
SOU finished the game shooting 37 percent, hitting 21 of 57 shots, but hit on only 4-for-14 shots from the 3-point line (29 percent).
Austin Wolfer (Woodburn, Ore./Woodburn) led the Raiders with 18 points and seven rebounds.
Trevor McCay (Petersburg, Alaska/Petersburg) finished with 12 points and
Eli Thornton (Victorville, Calif./Victorville) had 11 points.
Colt Mathews led Humboldt with 16 points.
