Free Throws Lead NW Christian To Victory

The Northwest Christian men's basketball team scored 35 points from the free throw line in the second half to score an 85-75 victory over Southern Oregon tonight in Eugene.

Northwest Christian is now 4-4 in Cascade Conference play. Southern Oregon dropped to 5-11 overall and 3-4 in conference play. SOU travels to Warner Pacific and Cascade College next weekend.

Northwest Christian finished the game shooting 44-for-50 (88 percent) from the free throw line to wrap up the victory. Southern Oregon made 11 of 18 free throws.

Dylan Perry led all scorers with 23 points for Northwest Christian.

Jarrad Childs (Paso Robles, Calif./Paso Robles) led the Raiders with 18 points and Trevor McCay (Petersburg, Alaska/Petersburg) finished with 15.

The Raiders led the whole first half and a good portion of the second half before Northwest Christian finally took over, taking the lead for good at 56-55 with 10:35 to play.

Northwest Christian made just eight baskets in the second half and just three baskets over the last 6:30 of the game. All the rest of the points came as a result of free throws.
