Southern Oregon basketball fans will get their first look at the SOU men's basketball team Saturday night in the annual Alumni game.
The Raiders and Alumni will tipoff at 7 p.m. at McNeal Pavilion.
Following Saturday's game, the Raiders open up the regular season Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. at McNeal Pavilion when they host Indiana East.
Southern Oregon went 9-21 overall and 7-13 in conference play and advanced to the conference's postseason tournament. The Raiders defeated three NAIA Top 10 teams during the season.
Senior
Jarrad Childs (Paso Robles, Calif./Paso Robles), a 6-1 guard, earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors last year. The senior averaged 13.5 points and ranked among the NAIA's leaders in steals for most of the year.
Key newcomers include
Ryan Staker (Las Vegas, Nevada/Centennial), a 6-8 post, who will give the Raiders a true threat on the inside. Staker saw limited minutes last year at UC Irvine and prior to that averaged 15.4 points and 12.7 rebounds at Central Arizona.
